Breeding Policy: Sweden has a Breeding Committee and Breeding Recommendations that are followed by club members. A list of recommendations is published on the Swedish website. Breeders who are club members follow the Swedish Kennel Club's fundamental rules for breeding. Key points in the Breeding Policy are: dogs must be tested and certified clear of hereditary disease including HD, elbow disorders, and hereditary eye disease. Females must be at least 24 months. Character testing is required. Winning in competitions is required. Foreign stud dogs must be approved for breeding in their country of origin.
